Digital Sight and Sound Division Objective:

Digital Sight and Sound designs and markets desktop workstations that sell in the price range of $5,000 - $15,000. More than half the units sold by Silicon Graphics come from this division. We strive to create innovative products based on our hardware, software, VLSI, and mechanical designs. Our products integrate consumer electronics technology with RISC CPU's to create powerful multi-media systems that excite the senses and are easy to use.

Hot Areas:

Multi-Media Hardware and Software:

Video, Audio, Compression (MPEG, JPEG), Video Conferencing
Digital Signal Processing, Worldwide Web.

VLSI and Systems Design:

EE's with VLSI simulation (VHDL) , Circuit Design (Spice, PLL's)
Board level design, system level simulation.

UNIX Engineers:

Software engineers with assembly language expertise in RISC CPU's.
Unix Device drivers, PC/MAC emulation, low level HW/SW interfaces.

Applications tuning:

Port and tune multi-media applications and browsers onto the Native RISC CPU and microcoded Multi-media engine.

Degrees Preferred:

BS/MS CS, EE or PHD in related disciplines.
