Joins Silicon Graphics

Silicon Graphics appoints Javaid Aziz as Senior Vice President of Europe

Silicon Graphics today announced the appointment of Javaid Aziz, formerly the chief executive officer of IBM's UK operations, as senior vice president of Europe.

Javaid at meeting He will be responsible for marketing, sales, service and manufacturing throughout Europe and will report directly to Robert R Bishop, president of Silicon Graphics' World Trade Corporation.

"Javaid brings to Silicon Graphics the calibre of leadership and expertise necessary to manage the European operations of a $1.5 billion high-technology company," said Bishop. "His broad range of experience will strengthen our position and presence in this rapidly growing market."

Aziz's twenty year career at IBM included technical, marketing and management positions throughout Europe. Over the past 10 years, Aziz pioneered several business transformation projects within the IBM European marketing organization.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in electronics and control systems from Loughborough University.

Silicon Graphics is the leading manufacturer of high performance graphics workstations and computer systems for visual computing applications. Silicon Graphics systems are binary code compatible across the range and combine high performance processing with real time 3D graphics capabilities. The computers are used for computer aided design and engineering, visual simulation, animation and computer aided chemistry.
