(May 1, 1995) -- As part of the unveiling of the MIPS® Magic CarpetĀ media processor architecture, the world's leading consumer products and communications companies, AT&T Network Systems, Philips Electronics N.V., Samsung Electronics and Time Warner Cable, each announced their support for Magic Carpet, a new media architecture designed for interactive digital applications. AT&T, Philips and Samsung, plan to use the Magic Carpet architecture in their own next-generation products.
The announcements mean that a broad range of interactive digital products for the home-including set-top devices for interactive television-will soon carry the MIPS Magic Carpet architecture to millions of homes around the world.
