The RealAudio Server software allows anyone producing and distributing
large amounts of audio content to deliver RealAudio programming from your
server throughout the Internet. The RealAudio Server is one of three
software products in the audio on demand delivery system for the Internet
brought to you by RealAudio technology
and Progressive Networks.
The RealAudio Server runs on Windows NT(tm) and
Unix(tm) platforms.
- Provides support for full random access on a per-stream basis.
- Supports dozens of simultaneous streams reliably.
- Distributes "narrowband multimedia" streams as well as pure audio.
- Logs server usage using standard Web-server formats. Allows system
administrators to establish user constraints independent of HTTP server
constraints.
- Supports direct peer communication with proxy Servers, which will enhance
the reliability of RealAudio delivery and in effect will provide a form of
broad-based multicasting.
