DESQview 386 v. 2.6

DESQview v. 386 v. 2.6 is an operating environment for DOS based personal computer (386SX,DX and above) which gives you the ability to run more than one DOS program at time. You can run programs in windows, switch quickly and easily between applications and even let programs do things in the background, such as printing, downloading, etc... DESQview 386 is compatible with more than 95% of DOS applications. DESQview 386 can run text, graphics and DOS extended programs, including WordPerfect, dBase, Lotus 1-2-3, Windows 3.x, Paradox, Procomm and many, many others.

DESQview 386 includes Quarterdeck Expanded Memory Manger v. 7.0 (QEMM) and Manifest v. 2.0.

Windowing

DESQview can display text and graphics based DOS programs in windows. This allows the user to view two or more programs at one time. Therefore, you can look at data in one window, while typing in another, or watch the status of a communications program downloading in the background while you do other work.

Switching between programs

DESQview 386 is a task-switcher. It allows a user to open two or more programs at a time. Switching between programs requires just two simple keystrokes, or the click of a mouse. In essence, switching between programs with DESQview 386 is as easy as changing channels on a T.V. set.

Multitasking

DESQview 386 is a multitasking environment. This means programs can be run in the background. For example, while typing in a word processor, a communications programs could be downloading in background. On 80386 systems, DESQview 386 can even run graphics programs (such as Autocad or Ventura Publisher) in background.

Other Features

DESQview 386 has a number of features which can be used to customize DESQview and to make using a PC faster and easier. DESQview can Mark and Transfer text between any text based DOS application. DESQview's Learn feature is a powerful keystroke macro program. Learn can be used to have DESQview open programs automatically, create submenus and automate repetitive tasks.

Running Windows 3.X under DESQview 386

DESQview can run all types of DOS programs. This includes regular DOS applications, DOS extended applications which support VCPI or DPMI (such as Autocad 386), and Windows applications (version 2 and 3.x).
