How to Get to the NLM:

Situated on the southeast corner of the campus of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) (appearing in the upper left-hand corner of this aerial photograph) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, the National Library of Medicine complex comprises Buildings 38 and 38A (see NIH campus map).

The NLM may be reached by road (see map) or via the Washington, DC Metro underground railway system. You are encouraged to use Metro whenever possible; due to several concurrent building projects underway at NIH, parking (particularly for visitors) is in extreme shortage, and parking regulations are strictly enforced with tickets and tow trucks. If you must drive, consider using the supplementary off-site parking lots, which are served regularly by shuttle buses.

The NLM/NIH is accessible from any of the three major regional airports (see instructions for Dulles International Airport, Baltimore Washington International Airport, and Washington National Airport).
