The research areas of the Laboratory for Human-Machine System are emphasising three main categories:

• task and knowledge analyses, particularly also with field studies,
• design and evaluation of human-machine interfaces, including graphical presentation, dialogue, user modelling, tracking interaction, quality control, knowledge-based and participative design, and usability testing, and
• design and evaluation of knowledge-based decision support systems, including expert systems, knowledge acquisition tools and electronic diagnosis handbooks.
