If you would like to help Greenpeace U.K. in its campaign for solar power in Britain we would like you to write to your electricity company and ask why they don't supply you with solar power. This page explains why the electricity companies should be committed to solar power, and provide you with a letter to fill in, print off and send.
If you are interested in finding out more about Solar power, we have a list of contacts.
The regional electricity companies in the U.K. are all using methods of electricity generation that contribute massively to global warming. Solar power is a viable, state-of-the-art electricity generating technology that does not destroy the environment. Greenpeace believes that the regional electricity companies should be investing in a cleaner future for their businesses by supporting the development of solar power.
Electricity companies in Europe and the United States run schemes that allow their customers to have access to affordable solar power. We would like you to write to your electricity company to ask them why they cannot do the same in your region.
The Government are determined to completely deregulate electricity markets, which means that, in theory, electricity consumers in the U.K. will have the choice of who to buy their electricity from. We would also like you to let the electricity companies know that if this does happen you will choose to buy your electricity from the company that has done the most to promote green electricity.
Please fill in your name and address that will be placed at the top of the letter, select the electricity company that you buy your electricity from, and print the letter.
When you receive a reply we would appreciate it if you could send us a copy for our records.
Thank you for helping the U.K. towards a solar future.
