We've checked them with Mosaic and lynx, but, we haven't usually included 'alt' tags because, of course, there isn't much in an art gallery for a non-graphical brouser.
If you are not using Netscape, we suggest you consider trying it, because of its ability to have several (up to four, I believe) windows loading at once (!) and because of its online JPEG capability.
It also 'remembers' locations you have visited before -- on your hard drive -- and loads them in a flash, conserving bandspace and, of course, your precious time.
The multiple window feature allows you to enjoy one window while others are loading in the background, minimizing waiting time -- which is the least enjoyable side of brousing. If you have memory beyond 4K, Netscape will put it to good use.
For some reason, you cannot 'alt/tab' between Netscape windows, however 'cascading' the windows allows moving easily between them.
Our main gallery page can take several minutes to load, and some of the large GIFs available form the page are close to 300K which means 3 minutes or more to load at 14.4.
We are planning to use JPEGs for our large images because we have found that savings of 85% in time and space are possible over GIFs for the large images, but we have so far stuck to GIFs because all graphical brousers accept them online.
To obtain Netscape, click here if your brouser will fetch files or get it from ftp.mcom.com/netscape.
If you have problems with our pages with your brouser, or would like to add some comments, just leave a note.
Thanks for coming by.
Enjoy!
