PTG - Programming Techniques Group
The Programming Techniques Group in the ECP Division at CERN
was formed in 1990, to help the teams that produce software for
and within CERN experiments to improve software development
productivity and quality.
This task is challenging due to the traditional independence of
the development teams, and the
fact that many groups co-develop with Universities and Laboratories
located in Europe and around the world.
The software improvement activities, often with direct participation to
projects in experiments, focus on: INFORMATION for
the people involved,
the organisation of the overall software development PROCESS, and
the appropriate METHODS and TOOLS.
The group is also active in Information and Documentations Systems for
experiments, mostly using WWW.
