No Technical Support Online

No Technical Support Online

At this time, Apple cannot offer online technical support to our Worldwide Web customers. This is due to the tremendous amount of mail we receive, we are unable to respond individually to your questions, or scan through the Apple Customer Center discussion boards and reply to questions. However, we do have a number of online and telephone resources you can consult:

1) Search the Apple Tech Info Library.

The Apple Tech Info Library is Apple's official technical support database. There are thousands of articles written about a wide range of Apple products, both past and present. Topics include: description, specifications, support issues, compatibility, and troubleshooting information. Search is by any word or words you want to type in and you can use operators such as AND, OR and NOT to limit or expand your search. The Apple Tech Info Library has all current product information, and can answer many of your questions on which computer to buy or how to troubleshoot a problem that you might have.

2) Download the latest Apple software updates.

We maintain a collection of all freely distributed Apple software, organized by category - including: system software, printing software, utilities and supplemental system software. Please refer to instructions posted with Apple Software Updates for downloading and using the software on your computer.

3) Download the latest issue of the "Information Alley" newsmagazine

The "Information Alley" is Apple's technical support newsmagazine, published every other week and available on a wide range of online services. The Information Alley answers the most-asked questions of the Apple Assistance Center in Austin, Texas and includes the latest information on Apple products, software updates and how to troubleshoot common problems.

4) Check the "Apple Product Support Team Home Pages" on www.info.apple.com

Each of the support groups of the Apple Assistance Center has identified the top support issues for each major product category and has selected specific Apple Tech Info Library articles which explain the question and answers. You can find the "Apple Product Support Team Home Pages" in the "Apple Related Web Pages" area of www.info.apple.com.

5) Call our AppleFax System at 1-800-505-0171.

You can call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to request one of two catalogs faxed directly to you:

* Product Literature Catalog: The product literature catalog contains the document numbers needed to request product literature sheets, also known as "spec sheets," of Apple's current line of announced and shipping products.

Access to Apple Fax can also be obtained through Apple's automated interactive systems at 1-800-SOS-APPL. During long queue times, you are given the option of transferring to Apple Fax, where an answer to your question may already be available.

6) 1-800-SOS-APPL for USA Customers.
