I studied at the University of Hamburg from 1983 till 1991
majoring in computer science (minor physics).
Special interests were programming languages, compilers, artificial
intelligence programming. During my studies I worked part-time for
several industrial companies, developing electronic publishing and
archival software for optical storage devices (CD-ROM, WORM).
In my master's thesis I wrote an optimizing compiler for the
object-oriented programming language Smalltalk.
Now I am engaged in the FIDE-2
project, working on the Tycoon
language environment. My PhD Thesis focusses on database programming
language design and implementation, object-oriented type systems, and
dynamic program optimization.
