My name is Tricia Joe, I am 17 years old, and in the 12th grade. I'm on the honor roll and currently have a 3.85 g.p.a. I am 3rd generation Asian-American, and was born and raised right here in Southern California. I am very happy to have been chosen to play the part of Claudia in the BSC movie. I know it was a tough decision. I know that I am a hard worker and I will do my best at all times. Hopefully, everyone will be happy with the results.
Claudia and I have things in common. We are both Asian-American. Claudia lives with her mom, dad, sister and grandma Miomo. I live with my mom, dad and younger brother, David.
Claudia is artistic. She paints, sculpts, and makes her own jewelry. I, on the other hand, can not do any of the above mentioned. But I am artistic in a different way. I love to sing and dance. I've performed with the American Ballet Theater, and was offered scholarships to the Joffrey and New York City Ballet for their summer programs. I decided, however, that I did not want to dance ballet professionally. Ballet is beautiful, but tap, jazz and funk dancing is more fun. I especially enjoyed dancing with Paula Abdul and M.C. Hammer. We danced on the Awards Show and Paula took us to "The Arsenio Hall Show" after she won. That was really fun, and they were all such nice people.
I also enjoy singing a lot. However, my passion, right now is the guitar. I started guitar lessons a few months ago. My teacher said that I'm doing very well, but I want to be really good at it so I can play it while performing with my singing group. This three girl singing group is called "Could Be Trouble." Our manager decided on this name for the group because he heard the three of us fighting about what costume to wear in order to project an image. He turned and told our moms that there could be trouble ahead. Thus, our singing group was born over two years ago. We have recorded two original songs and are currently shopping for a record deal. In the meantime, we try to rehearse as much as possible and we perform for charity functions as well as paying jobs.
Around November and December for the past seven years, I have sung and danced in the production of "The Glory of Christmas." This tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ through singing, dancing, flying angels, live animals and special effects. This past Christmas, "Entertainment Tonight" came to videotape. our show and interview us. The producers of "The Glory of Christmas" told ET that I will sing the part of Mary one day. Wouldn't that be something to think about, an Asian "Mary"? Will the world be ready for this? Who will they get to play Joseph?
