MELANIE MAYRON (Director) made her directing debut on the popular series "thirtysomething." In addition to two episodes for the series, Mayron has also written, directed and starred in an episode of Robert De Niro's acclaimed television series, "Tribeca," entitled "Stepping Back." She also directed an episode of ABC's "Sirens," the last show of the season on "Moon Over Miami," as well as an episode of "Winnetka Road," written by Meg Tilly. She recently completed directing a remake of "Freaky Friday" for Disney and ABC, starring Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman.
Mayron is a native of Philadelphia and a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Upon graduation, she toured the country for a year in the national tour of "Godspell," followed by her first film role in Paul Mazursky's "Harry & Tonto." She is best known for her performance in Claudia Weill's critically acclaimed feature "Girl Friends," Costa Gavras' "Missing," and the CBS special "Playing for Time," in which she plays opposite Vanessa Redgrave, and last year's Lifetime Premiere Movie "Other Women's Children," in which she starred. Additional credits as an actor in film include, "The Last of the Cowboys," with Henry Fonda, "Car Wash," "My Blue Heaven," "The Boss' Wife," "Checking Out" and "Drop Zone."
Melanie co-starred with Helen Slater in the feature "Sticky Fingers," which she co-wrote and co-produced with Catlin Adams. The team also wrote and produced "Little Shiny Shoes," an award-winning short film. Melanie was one of the last six actors to be admitted as a member of the Actor's Studio by Lee Strasburg before he died.
Melanie was one of the regular cast members on ABC's Emmy Award-winning series, "thirtysomething," and received an Emmy herself for her role as Melissa.
