----- JANE STARTZ (Producer) is cofounder and executive vice president of Scholastic Productions Inc. and divisional vice president of its parent company, Scholastic Inc. Ms. Startz heads SPI's newly formed Feature Film effort, which released its first two major motion pictures this summer, "The Indian in the Cupboard" and "THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB."

----- She has been the executive producer of SPI's children's and family film and television projects since its inception in 1979. She has executive produced over 30 productions, including Scholastic's Emmy award-winning and critically acclaimed "The Magic School Bus" animated television series starring Lily Tomlin on PBS, the long-running situation comedy series "Charles in Charge," the HBO series "THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB," and such family dramas as "The Great Love Experiment," "The Incredible Ida Early," "The Beniker Gang" and "The Truth About Alex," as well as a trilogy for American Playhouse based on The Lawrenceville Stories.

----- Ms. Startz has received over 50 awards in the category of children's and family programming. An honors graduate of Skidmore College, she has also studied at Juilliard and at the University of London. She serves on the board of both The Institute for Child, Adolescent & Family Studies, and The Friendly Place, a non-profit organization that promotes literacy in Harlem. Ms. Startz is a member of New York Women in Film and The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. She lives in New York City with her husband Peter Barton and three children.
