As Division Head of Scholastic Productions, Inc., and a Corporate Senior Vice President of Scholastic Inc., DEBORAH A. FORTE (Executive Producer) runs Scholastic's worldwide feature film, television and video businesses, including all licensing and marketing of Scholastic's media properties.
In addition to the film, Forte executive produced "THE BABY-SITTERS CLUB" award-winning TV series on HBO. She is also Executive Producer of "Goosebumps," a new live-action television series based on Scholastic's best-selling book series by R.L. Stine, premiering this fall on the Fox Children's Network, and Executive-In-Charge-of-Production of the multiple award-winning animated series "The Magic School Bus," PBS' highest-rated new series for children, for which Lily Tomlin won a 1994 Daytime Emmy award. Other recent Executive Producer credits include "The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Stories," based on the award-winning, internationally-acclaimed books by Eric Carle, and six animated films based on the best-selling Scholastic book series, "Clifford, the Big Red Dog."
Forte has run Scholastic's television, video, merchandising and marketing businesses since 1993 and is responsible for the introduction of Scholastic's television and merchandising efforts to international markets. Before joining Scholastic in 1984, Forte headed the specialty sales and marketing division of The Viking Press and Penguin Books.
Forte serves on the boards of The Coalition for Quality Children's Video and the Children's Museum of Manhattan and is a voting member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. A native of Boston, Forte is a graduate of Hamilton College. She lives in New York with her husband, Dr. Peter Stone, and their two sons.
