What is Infolab?
The Infolab belongs to the Chair of Computer Science
(formerly held by Prof. R.A. Meersman, currently vacant) and is part of
the Faculty of Economics at Tilburg University. It performs research
and development in the fields of knowledge representation,
databases, information systems and artificial intelligence.
Focal point in this research is the development of tools and methodologies for
conceptual modelling for knowledge bases, using state-of-the-art techniques from
object-oriented design, machine learning, qualitative reasoning and linguistics.
In particular, tools have been developed that allow the automated
(computer-assisted) engineering of large or complex databases from semantic
models. Also work is done on the linking of information systems design with
natural language dialogue systems in the Institute for Language Technology and
Artificial Intelligence. Recent work is aimed at developing tools for
Computer-Supported Cooperative Work.
