Final Writer - Windows - Support

The following are frequently asked questions about Final Writer for Windows 95/NT. If you have a question about Final Writer for Windows 95/NT, you may send email to Technical Support (fwwin.support@softwood.com).

Question: I turn on the "Type and Spell" feature by selection "Customize" from the "Tools" menu and clicking on the "Spelling" tab, but Final Writer won't tell me when I've misspelled a word?
Answer: Final Writer's Type and Spell feature uses a Windows sound event to let you know when it has found a misspelled word. For various reasons, the specific sound event Final Writer uses might not have a sound defined for it. Click the "Start" button and select "Control Panel" from the "Settings" menu. Open the "Sounds" control panel applet. In the list of "Events" highlight the one called "Critical Stop". From the "Name" drop-down list, choose a sound you'd like to use for the "Critical Stop" event. If you'd like to hear it, press the Play button (which is a right-pointing triangle). When you've found the sound you want, click "OK".

Question: How do I change the color of my text?
Answer: Highlight the text you want to colorize. Choose "Font" from the "Layout" menu. From the "Color" drop-down list, choose the color you want for your text. Click "OK".

Question: How can I add page numbers to my document?
Answer: Choose "Easy Header/Footer" from the "Tools" menu. Choose the options that will tell Final Writer how you want your page numbers displayed and click "OK".

Question: How do I print an envelope?
Answer: Choose "Page" from the "Layout" menu. Choose an envelope size from the "Size" drop down menu. Note that Final Writer will only display page sizes that are legitimate sizes for the printer driver you have chosen. The preview of your page size will display the envelope. If the envelope is not oriented correctly, change the "Orientation". Click "OK". Type in the information you want on your envelope. When you are ready, choose "Print" from the "File" menu. Load the envelope in the printer. Click "OK" on the "Print" dialog. Your envelope will print.
