Solid Tools Quit Working After Several Usages
Product: ToasterPaint 4.1
Platforms: 2000 3000 3000T 4000 4000T
Problem: When using Solid Rectangle, Circle, or Polygon tools a number of times, they eventually quit working. When you attempt
to draw a filled object, or cut out a brush, nothing happens.
This is a known bug in ToasterPaint. The routines for cleaning up Chip RAM after RAM-intensive graphics operations are not robust
enough for the new graphics routines. Chip RAM becomes fragmented, and solid tools begin to fail. One method of resolving
this problem is simple. Select undo. Deselect solid fill. Then select redo. Another method just save the work, go to
the Switcher screen, unload ToasterPaint (use the shift-key /left mouse combination to select ToasterPaint from the Programs
menu popup), then reload ToasterPaint, and reload the image. In rare instances, you may need to quit the Toaster or Flyer
software, and even reboot the system.
You should also be sure that no other Amiga graphics programs are running when you run ToasterPaint, so that the maximum
amount of Chip RAM is available for ToasterPaint. This includes unloading other Toaster applications, such as the CG and LightWave.
