Configuring External Devices on NomadTM Notebook After Loading Windows NTTM 3.51


Issue: Customers using Windows NT 3.51 on any Nomad Notebook may have problems with external devices. Windows NT 3.51 was never tested or shipped with Nomad Notebooks or with the external devices designed for Nomads.

Resolution:

For the NBTOKEN PCMCIA Token Ring Card:
The correct driver for installation is the Olicom Token Ring 16/4 Adapter drivers.

For the NBSCSI PCMCIA SCSI Card:
There are no drivers for this to work under any version of Windows NT.

For the NBETHER Ethernet Card:
If it is attached during the installation of Windows NT, NT should detect the card as a Novell® NE2000 Adapter. Ensure that the switches are correct on the card:

For Twisted Pair
- 10BaseT (Interrupt 5 and Input/Output Address 320)
- Open=Up
- Closed=Down
- #1 - Down
- #2 - Up
- #3 - Down
- #4 - Down
- #5 - Up
- #6 - Up
- #7 - Down
- #8 - Up

For Coaxial Cabling
- 10Base2 (Interrupt 5 and Input/Output Address 320)
- Open=Up
- Closed=Down
- #1 - Down
- #2 - Up
- #3 - Up
- #4 - Down
- #5 - Up
- #6 - Up
- #7 - Up
- #8 - Down
