This document provides installation instructions for LapLink 6.0d using Infrared devices only. An external Infrared module must be attached to a desktop system for these procedures. Before using LapLink 6.0d, you must install the IrMonitor application. Refer to How to Install IrMonitor Drivers for Infrared Devices in Windows for Workgroups on a Gateway Solo 2100 Series for Infrared installation. This document assumes that the CD-ROM drive letter is drive D:. Note: LapLink 6.0d can be used in conjunction with LapLink 95.
Installing LapLink 6.0d
1. Insert the Gateway Solo 2100 System CD into your CD-ROM disc drive. At the Program Manager, click the word File in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Click the word Run from the pulldown menu. In the Command Line box type:
and click the OK button in the upper right corner of this window.

2. A Welcome to Setup screen appears which provides important notes about the LapLink installation. Once you read through this information, click the Continue button to proceed.
3. A Location screen appears providing the default directory for the LapLink installation. Click the Continue button to accept the default directory of C:\LLW and continue. The LapLink for Windows screen appears displaying the files being copying to your hard drive.
4. A Computer Name window appears prompting for your computers name. In the box labeled Name, type your name. Click the Continue button to proceed.
5. The Primary Connection Device screen appears listing several types of devices for connecting the computers. Click once in the option box to the left of AirShare to place a check mark. Click the Continue button in the lower left corner of this window.
6. At the AirShare Port Setup screen, a list of ports is provided for the AirShare attached module. From the list of ports, click COM 2 once to highlight it. Click the Continue button in the lower left corner of this window.
7. The Your Name and Company screen appears. In the box labeled Name, type your name. Click the Continue button to proceed. A Serial Number screen appears. In the box labeled Serial Number, type a zero number and click the Continue button to proceed.
8. A Setup Complete window appears informing you that LapLink has been successfully installed. Click the Restart Now button to proceed. The system reboots and returns to windows. The LapLink for Windows group is present on the Program Manager.
Configuring LapLink 6.0d
1. From the Program Manager, double click the IrMonitor group to open it. In the IrMonitor group, double click the IrMonitor icon to start the program. Several tones are heard while the program is initialized and scans for another Infrared device. Close the IrMonitor group.
2. From the Program Manager, double click the LapLink for Windows group. In the LapLink for Windows group, double click the LapLink for Windows icon.
3. The LapLink for Windows screen appears informing you that a wireless (serial, COM 2) is currently unavailable, and that another application may be using the port. Click the Yes button to check the port setup. Note: This should occur only when accessing LapLink for Windows for the first time.
4. A Port Setup screen appears. In the Port Setting list box, click once to highlight COM 2 Wireless Unavailable. In the box labeled Enable Port, click once to remove the check mark. In the Port Settings list box, click once to highlight COM 4 Cable Disabled. In the Type box, click the down arrow. Click once on the word Wireless to select it.
5. In the box labeled as Enable Port, click the option box to place a check mark. Note: If the device is working properly, the Current Port Status section provides the connection status information. Click the Close button in the upper right corner of this window return to the main menu of LapLink for Windows. The program is now configured.
File transfers with LapLink 6.0d
The following steps assume that LapLink 6.0d is successfully installed and configured on the Gateway Solo 2100 System. Note: LapLink versions for Windows needs to be running on both systems for the file transfer windows to appear.
1. On the Gateway Solo 2100 Series computer, click the Paper Folder icon located on the toolbar. Two file transfer windows appear. The left window provides the directory structure of your computer. The right window provides the directory structure of the remote computer.
2. On the desktop computer, click the Manila Folder icon located on the toolbar. Two file transfer windows appear. The LapLink for Windows 95 is now ready to receive file transfers.
