Gateway 2000 President and COO Rick Snyder addresses ITEC Expo attendees

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., April 2, 1997 - Rick Snyder, president and chief operating officer of Gateway 2000, Inc., presented the keynote address today at Information Technology Expositions & Conferences (ITEC) Expo in Seattle, WA. Snyder’s speech, entitled "The Gateway 2000 Story," discussed the company’s corporate direction and market segmentation strategy.

"Our approach to segmentation is 'all customers are not the same,' " said Snyder. "In fact, we see three basic customer segments: the enthusiast, the major account customer and the consumer. Our goal is to provide total value of ownership to all three segments. We believe we can do this by adhering to our core Gateway values and dedicating ourselves to building long-term relationships with our customers."

Gateway 2000 finished 1996 ninth in worldwide desktop shipments, and captured 8 percent of the US desktop marketshare during the fourth quarter of 1996, according to Dataquest. In addition, over 75 percent of the Fortune 1000 did business with Gateway in 1996.
