NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., April 2, 1997 - Gateway 2000, Inc. (NYSE: GTW), a leading global marketer of PCs, today announced plans to extend its major accounts sales operations to its Kansas City facility. Plans call for approximately 100 new positions to be added sometime during the second quarter of 1997. Expansion will result in
approximately 100 new jobs
"Our goal in major accounts is to provide total value of ownership to our customers," said Dave Chamberlain, director of major accounts for Gateway. "We see this expansion as a step in the right direction toward achieving that goal." Chamberlain added that major account sales in North Sioux City will continue to grow as well. "The Kansas City expansion will simply allow us to accelerate our growth potential by taking advantage of the talent that exists in that community as well."
Major account sales in 1996 were approximately 35% of total revenue. For the second consecutive year, Gateway 2000 was the number one direct supplier of PCs on the GSA schedule. The company was also recently named a Supplier of the Year by Aetna Inc.
