Gateway 2000 Chairman and CEO Ted Waitt addresses FOSE Trade Show attendees

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., March 19, 1997 - Ted Waitt, chairman and CEO and founder of Gateway 2000, Inc., presented the keynote speech today at the FOSE (Federal Office Supply Exhibition) Trade Show in Washington, D.C. Waitt addressed the FOSE audience with a speech entitled, "Another Perspective on the Value Cycle."

In his address, Waitt discussed the many definitions of value, how they integrate and how they have changed and will change over time. "Companies that successfully sell to the government marketplace will be companies that view themselves as an extension of you," Waitt said in addressing attendees. "In addition, they will teach you something you didn’t know, listen to you and deliver customized solutions. By living a set of values, delivering value and understanding what others value, we can all make a difference."

Gateway, one of the world’s leading direct marketers of PC’s, has experienced tremendous growth in their federal government sales, particularly on the General Services Administration (GSA) Multiple Award Schedule 70 B/C. According to IDC, the company’s reported revenues from the GSA for fiscal year 1996 grew 133% over 1995 levels to $191 million. This total was second only to historical schedule leader GTSI who reported sales just over $194 million. Gateway sells more Pentium processor based PC’s to the government than any other vendor (Government Computer News, April 26, 1996, p. 88) and consistently scores well in the Government Computer News Product Preference surveys.
