BeWare Highlight: BeNFS Server and ClientConnectivity is a BeOS strength, especially since the BeOS is delivered Internet-ready. For instance, you can turn on standard Internet file sharing by enabling your built in FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server. Now, thanks to Andreas Huber of Barecode Development, you also have NFS connectivity through BeNFS Server and Client. Andreas first produced the NFS server and later responded to end-user demand by supplying an associated NFS client. BeNFS Server is amazingly simple to use. If you have your Network preferences configured, simply run BeNFS Server, start the PortMapper, and export/mount your BeOS volume. NFS clients can now mount your BeOS volume. In addition, you can keep a log of server messages for administration and troubleshooting. The BeNFS Client is also a breeze to navigate. Point it to a host with an exported NFS volume (it doesn't have to be a host running BeNFS Server), and you'll be able to mount it. In the screenshot below, I've mounted one of our Linux-based volumes. Copying files from the remote volume is as easy as clicking on the filename. A menu will pop-up to allow you to copy the file to the local filesystem. Moving files to the NFS volume is even easier in that you merely drag the files from your Tracker windows and drop them onto the NFS volume windows. The current version of BeNFS Server and Client is Preview Release 7, which has been compiled for the Advanced Access Preview Release. Vital StatisticsAvailability: Available
