Description: This is a quick port of the Gnu groff 1.10 to the BeOS, as well as a port of the OpenBSD "man" command. Extract the archive under the "/boot" directory. Everything will install into /boot/local mimicing a Unix /usr/local tree. The only exception is man.conf which normally goes into /etc but is placed in /boot/local/lib for BeOS. groff 1.10 compiled right up pretty much out of the box. I only changed some configuration paramters, and told it that it did not have mkstemp, made sure I had a cxx script that could compile C++ files named "foo.C" and it built and ran. Getting openbsd's man to run was another set of headaches, involving throwing together a variety of library routines to mimic those in BSD. (I really should just port the entire set of BSD libraries one of these days.) Source are available from the Gnu FTP site and OpenBSD's sites as well as a variety of other places and CD-ROMs. If you want my copies, please drop me a note.

Description: time is a position in a cycle. this is a different type of time cycle. SineClock - a sound installation for the BeOS if you spend enough time in a place, you will begin to know the patterns of that place - the sun and moon, traffic, tides, smells, faces, sounds. once you know the patterns, you can begin to use them to tell the time - if the trash truck just woke me up, it must be friday morning. if the sun is high in the middle of the sky and i'm still in bed, it's probably noon. (i like to sleep!) SineClock puts a pattern - the interaction of three sets of sine waves - on your desktop and into your ears. if you spend enough time with it, that pattern and the information it contains (the time of day) become clear, plus, it's just nice to watch/listen to! requires Jon Watte's libprefs1.2.2 - available from http://www.be.com/beware/Libraries.html
