PrepCard

PrepCard is a utility for Amigas equiped with a PCMCIA (PC-Card) Slot.
( IE.. A1200, A600).

This Utility helps prepare static Ram cards either as System RAM or as a Disk Device.

When prepared as a system disk it can be used like any floppy or hard disk, allowing reading and writing from. It will be called CC0:. When Prepared as System RAM it the card is used just as any memory addition would be, with the memory apearing in FAST MEM or the "OTHER MEM" coloum of your WorkBench title bar. Remember that PCMCIA is a 16 bit device and that any memory added will be 16 bit NOT 32 bit.

Things to remember when using PCMCIA cards.

  1. PrepCard does not run if a card is already in use as System RAM. to reset the card reboot your amiga with no cards in the PCMCIA slot.
  2. Removing a card that is currently in use as System RAM while the machine is on will automatically reboot your amiga.
  3. Do not write protect a card while it is in use as RAM, this will cause the amiga to lock up and will force you to reboot.
  4. The PCMCIA slot is disabled when more then 4 meg of fast memory is installed into the machine. (note: many memory/accelerator cards have patches that work around this so that you can continue to use the PCMCIA slot.
