Issue: A system runs four times slower using SQL 6.0 Client utilities to connect to a SQL database. The system may take up to 14 seconds to connect. The normal connect rate is less than 2 seconds.
Resolution: Try one of these steps below to resolve this issue.
- Delete the network adapter from Device Manager.
- If the NIC is a Plug and Play card and set to use Plug and Play, reboot the system and let the Windows® 95 operating system re-detect the card upon start up.
- If the NIC is a Non Plug and Play or a disabled Plug and Play card, reboot the system. Run the Add New Hardware icon to re-detect the card.
- Change the default protocol used by the network adapter to something else in Network Neighborhood properties and reboot. You may then change the default protocol back to the original setting.
- Delete and reinstall the IPX/SPX compatible protocol from Network Neighborhood properties, and reboot the system.
