Issue: After installing 32 MB Ram SIMMS in a Thor motherboard with BIOS version 1.00.01.CNOT running Windows 95, the system will yield the following errors Windows Protection Error during boot or the system will experience random Fatal Exception Errors when opening applications.

Resolution: This issue is likely to be a result of certain third party RAM SIMMs operating at speeds faster or slower than 60ns. The Thor motherboard has tight memory specifications. Ram SIMMs which operate at 60ns are required. Some SIMM manufacturers mark the SIMMs at 60ns, but the SIMMs actually run at 45ns. Two different 32MEG memory modules that have been tested by Gateway and are known to work are Hyundai FPM 60ns SIMM (HY5117400AJ-7) and Samsung EDO 60ns SIMM (KM44C4104AK-6).
