How do I eliminate the four green bars/scrambled video after I loaded my game?

The problems occur when DirectX is installed. One of two scenerios will occur. 1) At particular point during the installation, DirectX may report the following: "Replace existing display drivers with DirectX drivers? Setup has detected display drivers that have not been tested with DirectX. To get the best game performance, Setup can replace your existing drivers. Do you want Setup to replace the drivers?" If one answers Yes, DirectX will replace the current driver with the generic Windows 95 driver for the video adapter. When Windows 95 is restarted, the video becomes unusable. If one answers No, the current drivers are left alone and video is not affected. 2) Some games will automatically overwrite the video drivers without prompting you, as in scenerio 1. In this case, you’ll experience unusable or erratic video.
If Yes was selected, use the following steps below to reload the correct drivers:

  1. Reboot the system, press the F8 key at the "Starting Windows 95..." message and Select Safe Mode.
  2. Right click on the Desktop and select Properties.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Click Change Display Type.
  5. Click the Adapter tab in the Advanced Display Properties dialog box.
  6. Click Change.
  7. In the Select Device dialog box, choose the correct drivers for your display adapter and click OK.
  8. Close the Change Display Type dialog box.
  9. Close the Display Properties dialog box.
  10. Restart the computer when prompted.

However, the recommended and ideal fix for the problem is to get updated video drivers for your video card. Locate and download the newest drivers for your video adapter, extract the downloaded drivers into a temporary subdirectory on your hard disk and follow the instructions below:

    1. Right click on the Desktop and select Properties.
    2. Click the Settings tab.
    3. Click Change Display Type.
    4. Click the Adapter tab in the Advanced Display Properties dialog box
    5. Click Change.
    6. In the Select Device dialog box, click Have Disk.
    7. Click Browse and find temporary directory you created. Double click on the display.inf file.
    8. In the Select Device dialog box, choose the correct drivers for your display adapter and click OK.
    9. Close the Change Display Type dialog box.
    10. Close the Display Properties dialog box.
    11. Restart the computer when prompted.
