Installing TranXit Version 2.0
- Insert TranXit disk 1 of 2 into the floppy drive. At the Program Manager, click the word File in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Click the word Run from the pulldown menu. In the Command Line box type:
and click the OK button in the upper right corner of this window. A window appears displaying the files being copied to your hard drive. Next, a window appears prompting for the next diskette. Remove disk 1 and insert disk 2 of the TranXit software. Click the OK button to continue.

- The TranXit installation screen appears with information about what the installation program will do. Click the Continue button to proceed with the installation.
- An Installation Location window appears displaying the default installation directory of C:\TRANXIT. Press the OK button to continue. Note: If Tranxit is already installed on the hard drive, the installation will prompt to install over the previous version. Click the Yes button to continue the installation.
- After the files are copied, a name must be assigned to the computer. Type a unique name, up to 16 characters, in the Computer Name box. This allows easy identification of systems during file transfers. Click the Continue button to continue.
- In the Connection Setup window, the Connection Types box displays, Infrared, Serial, and Parallel. Infrared is selected by default, click the Setup Connection button.
- An Infrared Settings window appears. In the Ports box, COM 2 is selected by default. In the Turbo box, click once in the option box to the left to place a check mark beside it. In the Base I/O Address box, 2F8 is selected by default. In the IRQ box, 3 is selected by default. In the Infrared device box, click the down arrow and click Gateway Liberty from the drop down list. In the Mode box, click the down arrow and click on Fixed from the drop down list. In the Baud Rate box, click the down arrow and click on 115200 from the drop down list. Click the OK button in the upper right corner of this window.
- At the Connection Setup window, at the Configure Connection box it should read: Infrared, Gateway Liberty, Fixed, COM2, 115200 baud, base address 2F8, IRQ 3, Enabled. In the lower left side of the window, click once on the option box beside Enable connection to place a check mark. Click the OK button located in the upper right corner of this window.
- At the Installation Complete window, click the Restart window button to restart windows before Tranxit can function properly. When Windows restarts, the Tranxit program group opens display the Tranxit icons.
Installing TranXit Version 2.0 on a Desktop
The 9-pin serial port is disabled through CMOS on Gateway desktops that ship with a modem. The default settings for most modems is COM 1, IRQ 4. The port needs to be set to COM 2, IRQ 3 before configuring the desktop. For information on entering CMOS, or any other information on the system, consult the documentation referencing that system. Although COM 3 and COM 4 may be available the possibility of Interrupt conflicts have to be taken into consideration. Consequently set up the program at the defaults, and once it is operating properly, change settings as necessary.
- Reboot the computer, and enter CMOS, locate the peripheral section concerning port setup. The first serial port should be set to Com 2, the second serial port is Disabled. Exit, and save any changes. The system will reboot and enter Windows for Workgroups.
- Insert TranXit disk 1 of 2 into the floppy drive. At the Program Manager, click the word File in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Click the word Run from the pulldown menu. In the Command Line box type:

- The Tranxit installation screen appears with information as to what the installation program will do. Click the Continue button to proceed with the installation.

Note: If Tranxit is already installed on the hard drive, the installation will prompt to install over the previous version. Click the Yes button to continue the installation.
- After the files are copied a name must be assigned to the computer. A window appears prompting for you to type a unique name up to 16 characters in the Computer Name box. This allows easy identification of systems during file transfers. Click the Continue button to continue.
- In the Connection Setup window, the Connection Types box displays, Infrared, Serial, and Parallel. Click Infrared as the option, then click the Setup Connection button.
- An Infrared Settings window appears. In the Ports box, COM 2 is selected by default. In the Turbo box, click once in the option box to the left to place a check mark beside it. In the Base I/O Address box, 2F8 is selected by default. In the IRQ box, 3 is selected by default. In the Infrared device box, click the down arrow and click Extended Systems from the drop down list. In the Mode box, click the down arrow and click Fixed on from the drop down list. In the Baud Rate box, click the down arrow and click on 115200 from the drop down list. Click the OK button in the upper right corner of this window.
- At the Connection Setup window, at the Configure Connection box it should read: Infrared, Extended Systems, Fixed, COM2, 115200 baud, base address 2F8, IRQ 3, Enabled. In the lower left side of the window, click once on the option box beside Enable connection to place a check mark. Click the OK button located in the upper right corner of this window.
- At the Installation Complete window, click the Restart window button to restart windows before Tranxit can function properly. When Windows restarts, the Tranxit program group opens display the Tranxit icons.
Determine if TranXit is functioning properly
Note: Both Infrared devices should be at least 4 to 6 inches apart for installation purposes. After the installation is successful, the Infrared devices can be used 15 to 20 feet apart from each other.
- On both the portable and desktop, at the Tranxit group window, double click the Tranxit icon.
- With the portable system, in the Tranxit 2.0 window click the Connection Status button from the toolbar. The Connection Status button is the 10th button on the toolbar from left to right. A Connection Status window appears, the 3rd line down from the top provides the Connection and the character reference of the desktop system your connected to. The 3rd line reference is as follows: Connect to <System name of the desktop>.
