DOS and Windows® 3.x driver installation instructions
- To install the CD-ROM drivers, insert the Gateway Solo boot diskette into the external floppy drive. Reboot the system by pressing CTRL, ALT, & DEL keys simultaneously or turn the system on. The system boots up to this diskette. A menu starts as shown below:

- Exit
- Press 2 and the next screen appears:
CD-ROM Driver Installation
We will now install the CD-ROM drivers onto your hard disk.
Your Autoexec.bat and Config.sys will be modified to load these
drivers automatically.Hit C to Continue or Q to Quit
- Press the C key on the keyboard to continue. The files copy to the hard drive and lines are added to the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS.
- The line added to the AUTOEXEC.BAT is:
c:\dos\mscdex.exe /s /d:solocd.- The line added to the CONFIG.SYS is:

- The internal CD-ROM drives are ATAPI 1.2 compliant. This allows Windows® 95 to detect the drive when the system is started. Drivers do not need to be installed to configure this drive in Windows 95.
- To view the drive properties, right click the My Computer icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Click the word Properties on the menu that appears on the screen.
- Across the top of the System Properties screen are four tabs: General, Device Manager, Hardware Profiles, and Performance. Click the Device Manager tab to view this information.
- In the upper left hand corner of Device Manager, by default, the View devices by type option is bulleted. From the list of devices previewed in the window, click once on the + symbol beside CDROM. The Matshita UJDCD2720 is shown as the installed CD-ROM drive.
