Using Windows 95 with the 16AZCARD Sound Card and Sony CD-ROM

The Gateway Aztech Sound Card does not yet have protected mode drivers for Windows 95. In order for the card to work properly, you will need to use itís real-mode drivers. Do not use the built in Aztech protected-mode drivers since our card is OEM specific, and may not function properly with them.

The Gateway Aztech Card has a built in controller for the Sony double speed CD-ROM models CDU-31A GD and CDU 33A GW. There are protected mode drivers for these CD-ROM drives, however you will need to use the real-mode drivers, since the sound card uses real-mode.

If your sound card and CD-ROM Drive were working correctly in Windows 3.x, after upgrading to Windows 95 you will have to edit the following files and make sure the lines listed below are in them, and they do not have a REM - by Windows 95 Setup - in front of them.

AUTOEXEC.BAT:

C:\G2KAUDIO\UTILITY\GWBVOL /AUX1:16,16 /AUX2:16,16 /MC:E
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T4
SET GALAXY=A220 I5 D1 K2 P534 T6
SET SOUND=C:\G2KAUDIO
C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:SONY_000

CONFIG.SYS :

DEVICE=\DEV\SLCD.SYS /D:SONY_000 /B:300 /M:P /V /C

If your CD-ROM and Sound Card did NOT work in Windows 3.x or if you are adding these components to a system that is already running Windows 95, you will need to run the installation program found on the drivers diskette. This can be run from a MS-DOS prompt by typing A:install.
