How to Install the Correct Driver for the ATI Mach64 CT Video Adapter Under Win 95

Often Windows 95 incorrectly detects the ATI Mach64 CT video display adapter as an ATI Graphics PRO Turbo PCI (Mach64). This occurs when Win95 is initially installed. The Gateway part number for this card is VIDPCI010AAWW.

The following steps explain exactly how to change the driver after Windows is installed to avoid,

To Change the Driver:

  1. After booting to Windows, right click on the MY COMPUTER icon.
  2. Choose PROPERTIES from the pulldown menu.
  3. Click on the DEVICE MANAGER tab on the SYSTEM PROPERTIES window.
  4. Double click on DISPLAY ADAPTERS.
  5. Double click on the display adapter that is listed under the adapter icon.
  6. Click on the DRIVER tab of this window and then click on CHANGE DRIVER.
  7. Click on HAVE DISK which is located on the right center corner of the window.
  8. At the prompt for the location of the files, type:

    d:\drivers\display\ati

    with being the letter of the drive containing the ATI files and then click on OK.
  9. Click OK to choose the ATI driver listed.
  10. Click OK to install the new driver.
  11. Click OK to shutdown and restart with the new driver.
