Changing the Adapter Drivers Under Win 95 with the Matrox MGA Video Adapter

The Matrox MGA video display adapter is often seen as an Oak Technologies card instead of an MGA card in Windows 95.

To Change the driver, follow these steps:

  1. After booting to Windows, right click on the MY COMPUTER icon.
  2. Choose PROPERTIES from the pulldown menu.
  3. Click on the DEVICE MANAGER tab.
  4. Double click on DISPLAY ADAPTERS.
  5. Double click on the display adapter that is listed under the adapter icon.
  6. Click on the DRIVER tab of this window and then click on CHANGE DRIVER.
  7. Click on HAVE DISK which is located on the right center corner of the window.
  8. At the prompt for the location of the files, type:

    d:\drivers\display\matrox

    with being the letter of the drive containing the Matrox files, and then click on OK.
  9. Click OK to choose the Matrox driver listed.
  10. Click OK to install the new driver.
  11. Click OK to shutdown and restart with the new driver.
