How to Install the STB PowerGraph Pro Video Card Drivers

This document contains installation instructions for the STB PowerGraph Pro video card. These drivers only need to be installed if the hard drive is formatted, the drivers become corrupt, or the directory is inadvertently deleted.

Installation instructions

  1. Exit Windows completely or boot the computer up to a C:\> prompt. Place the STB PowerGraph 864 video drivers diskette #1 into the floppy drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
    a:
    and press Enter. At the A:\> prompt, type:
    stbsetup
    and press Enter. The STB Driver Installation Utility window appears. Press Enter to begin the installation.
  2. The Installation Options are given. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, highlight Powergraph Pro PCI Rel. 1.0 Utilities and press the space bar to toggle the option on the right hand side of the screen to Yes. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, highlight Windows Ver. 3.1 Display Drivers and press the space bar to toggle the option on the right hand side of the screen to Yes. Once these selections are made press Enter to continue.
  3. The default directory of C:\STBUTIL is displayed in the Utilities Directory box at the bottom of the screen. Press Enter to accept this directory and continue. The Status box at the top of the screen displays the files as they copy to the hard drive. The next window informs you "The PCPRO PCI Utilities have been copied to C:\STBUTIL\." Press Enter to continue.
  4. A window prompts for the POWERGRAPH PRO PCI Windows driver diskette. Insert the appropriate diskette into the A: drive and press Enter to continue. Note: A window may appear stating that one or more files already exist on the system. Most are generic font files unless a prior installation was done. Press the A key on the keyboard to overwrite all of the previous files.
  5. More files copy to the hard drive. A windows prompts for a Windows 3.1 driver to install. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight 640x480-256c and press Enter to select it. Note: This resolution and color depth is easily changed in Windows once the driver installation is complete.
  6. The last window informs you the installation is complete. The A:\> prompt again appears. Remove the diskette from the A: drive and reboot the system. A new group called STB Winstall is added to the Program Manager.

Monitor selection

  1. Exit Windows completely. At the C:\> prompt, type:
    CD\STBUTIL
    and press Enter. At the C:\STBUTIL> prompt, type:
    monitor
    and press Enter. A list of monitor is displayed. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight the monitor type attached to the computer. Once the appropriate monitor is highlighted, press Enter to select it.
  2. If the correct monitor is not available, highlight Custom at the bottom of the list and press Enter. Custom refresh rates may be chosen by using the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight a resolution and pressing Enter to change the refresh rate. Press Enter on the correct refresh rate, then press F10 to accept the changes when finished.
  3. The C:\STBUTIL> prompt is again displayed. Reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.
