How to Install the Gateway Gamers Pack CD
This document contains installation instructions for all the CD in the Gateway Gamers Pack in Windows 3.x or MS-DOS 6.x. These instructions assume that the CD-ROM drive letter is D: and the hard drive letter is C:. All of the games in this pack are installed and played through MS-DOS unless otherwise stated.

Installation instructions
- Insert the Primal Rage CD in the D: drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt, type:
d:
and press Enter to continue.
install
- The Primal Rage screen appears. Install Game is flashing on the screen. Press Enter to select it and continue. The Install Game menu appears on-screen. Make sure Full Installation is flashing and press Enter to select it.
- The installation prompts you to Type in Drive Path with C:\RAGE below this. Press Enter to accept this default destination directory and continue. The installation program lists the amount of hard disk space needed for this game and the amount available on the hard drive. If enough space is available, OK appears flashing in the bottom center portion of the screen. Press Enter to continue.
- As the game files copy to the hard drive, a colored bar appears across the bottom of the screen indicating the progress of the installation. The Installation Complete message then appears across the bottom of the screen with OK flashing. Press the Enter key to return to the first menu screen.
- Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Configure Sound and press Enter to select it. The Sound Configuration Utility screen appears. In the Current Sound Configuration box should be the type of sound card in the computer. If there are no settings in the Current Sound Configuration box, continue to the next step. If there are settings in the Current Sound Configuration box, skip to step 10.
- Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Select and configure MIDI music driver in the Sound Configuration Options box on the lower portion of the screen and press Enter to select it.
- In the Available MIDI Drivers box, use the arrow keys to highlight Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% compatible if you have a SoundBlaster, Vibra 16, 16BA, 16MV, or 16MVL sound card in the computer and press Enter to select it.
- In the Available MIDI Drivers box, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Ensoniq SoundScapeTM General Midi if you have an Ensoniq sound card in the computer and press Enter to select it.
- The next screen prompts you to Attempt to configure sound driver automatically. Press Enter to select this option and continue. A moment later the screen returns and confirms the Device detected Successfully. Press Enter to continue.
- In the Sound Configuration Options box, use the arrow keys to highlight Select and configure digital audio driver and press Enter to select it.
- In the Available Digital Audio Drivers box, use the arrow keys to highlight Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% compatible if you have a SoundBlaster, Vibra 16, 16BA, 16MV, or 16MVL sound card in the computer and press Enter to select it.
- In the Available Digital Audio Drivers box, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Ensoniq SoundScapeTM Digital Audio if you have an Ensoniq sound card in the computer and press Enter to select it.
- The next screen prompts you to Attempt to configure sound driver automatically. Press Enter to select this option and continue. A moment later the screen returns and confirms the Device detected successfully. Press Enter to continue.
- In the Sound Configuration Options box, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Done and press Enter to return to the main menu screen. Installation is now complete. Select the option you want and press Enter to select it.
To play Primal Rage
- Insert the Primal Rage CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt in DOS, type:
and press Enter. At the C:\RAGE> prompt type:
cd\rage
and press Enter to start the game. The Main Menu appears on-screen. Highlight Start or Game Options to begin the game.

- To exit the game when finished playing, press the ESC key on the keyboard until Quit to DOS? Y/N appears on-screen. Once this message appears, press the Y key on the keyboard to exit to the C:\RAGE> prompt.

Virtual Pool/Straight Eight
Installation
- Insert the Virtual Pool CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt, type:
d:
and press Enter to begin.
install
- Virtual Pool Installation appears in the upper left hand corner of the screen. The installation prompts you for the CD-ROM Drive Letter. Type:
and press Enter. This takes you to the Destination Directory setting. Press Enter to accept the default directory of C:\VPOOL> and continue. The file names are displayed as they copy onto the hard drive.

- Once the files finish copying, Installation Complete appears on the screen and the C:\VPOOL> prompt appears. Type:
and press Enter to configure the sound card settings for the game.
config
- The Virtual Pool Configuration screen appears. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Sound Config and press Enter to continue. The Sound Configuration screen appears.
- Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight the sound card in the computer according to the following list:
- If you have a SoundBlaster16, Vibra 16, 16BA,16AZ, 16A, 16MV, or 16MVL, highlight Sound Blaster and press Enter to select it. Press Enter again to Detect Sound Hardware and Get Hardware Parameters. Once you read the next screen, press Enter again to return to the Virtual Pool Configuration screen.
- If you have an Ensoniq Soundscape sound card, highlight Ensoniq SoundScape and press Enter to select it. Press Enter again to Detect Sound Hardware and Get Hardware Parameters. Once you read the next screen, press Enter again to return to the Virtual Pool Configuration screen.
- Press the ESC key on the keyboard to Exit the configuration program. Make sure YES, save new configuration is highlighted and press Enter to return to the C:\VPOOL> prompt.
To Play Virtual Pool
- Insert the Virtual Pool CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
and press Enter. At the C:\VPOOL> prompt, type:
cd\vpool
and press Enter to begin the game.

- If you wish to skip the opening credits, press the ESC key to continue. If you wish to watch the opening credits, press the Enter key to continue. The Virtual Pool Main Menu screen appears. Make a selection to continue playing the game.
- Once you finish playing the game, press the F9 key on the keyboard. Select Yes when asked to return to the main menu, the select Exit Virtual Pool. Press Enter once more to return to the C:\VPOOL> prompt.

Terminal Velocity
Installation
- Insert the Terminal Velocity CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt, type:

and press Enter to begin.

- The 3D Realms Compact Disc Installation screen appears. Once you read the information on the screen, press Enter to continue. The next screen informs you of the amount of hard disk space the game requires. Press Enter to continue with the installation.
- The next window contains the directory name to copy into. Press Enter to accept the default answer of C:\TV and continue. The next message prompts you to create the directory. Press the Y key on the keyboard to create the directory and continue.
- As the files copy to the hard drive, the colored bars at the bottom of the screen fill toward the right. Once the installation is complete, you are prompted to exit and play the game. Press the Y key on the keyboard and the program exits to a C:\TV> prompt.
- At the C:\TV> prompt, type:
and press enter to configure the computer components with the game.

- The TV Registered Setup screen appears. From the Main Menu in the center of the screen, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Sound Setup and press Enter to continue. An Attention screen will appear. Once you read the information, press Enter to continue.
- A message appears asking to auto-detect for the presence of a SoundBlaster? . Press the N key on the keyboard to continue. In the Sound Capabilities window, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight SoundBlaster CLONE and press Enter to select it.
- The Configure Sound Driver screen appears. In the Enter new Base Address box, type:
and press Enter to continue. In the Enter new IRQ box, type:

and press Enter to continue. In the DMA Channel box, type:

and press Enter to continue. The next screen prompts you to test the sound driver. Press the Y key on the keyboard to test the sound card and continue. Once the sound test is complete, press the Y key on the keyboard to confirm that the sound played OK and return to the Main Menu.

- Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Save and launch TV and press Enter to start the game.
To play Terminal Velocity
- Insert the Terminal Velocity CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
and press Enter. At the C:\TV> prompt, type:
cd\tv
and press Enter to begin. Once the initial introduction screen complete, the Main Menu appears on-screen. Use the arrow keys to highlight Play Game and press Enter to select it.

- Once you finish playing the game, press the ESC key on the keyboard. On the Quit Game menu, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Yes and press Enter to select it.

Command & Conquer
Installation
- Insert the Command & Conquer CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt, type:

and press Enter to begin.

- A Welcome screen appears briefly on-screen. The select E.V.A.ís Vocal & Sound Communication screen appears next. Use the arrow keys to select the type of sound card in the computer.
- If you have a Sound Blaster or compatible sound card, use the arrow keys to highlight Sound Blaster.
- If you have an Ensoniq Soundscape sound card, use the arrow keys to highlight Ensoniq Soundscape.
- Press Enter to select the sound card and continue. The next screen displays the settings for the sound card as follows: Port 220, IRQ 5, and DMA 1. Press Enter to Test the sound card and continue.
- The Sound Card screen appears. Use the mouse to click the Test button. If you hear sound, click the Accept button to continue. The next screen asks for confirmation of the Digitized source. Use the mouse to click the Yes button to continue.
- The next screen informs you the game installs to C:\C&C. Press Enter to accept this default directory and continue. On the right hand side of the screen, percentage bars display the installation progress.
- Once the installation completes, Press Any Key When Ready appears flashing in the lower right side of the screen. Press Enter to continue. As more files are copied to the hard drive, the file names flash across the screen. Once this completes, the C:\C&C> prompt appears on the screen.
To play Command & Conquer
- Insert the Command & Conquer CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt, type:
and press Enter. At the C:\TV> prompt, type:
cd\c&c
and press Enter to begin. Once the introduction screens complete, Use the arrow keys to highlight Start New Game and press Enter to begin.

- To exit the game, press the ESC key on the keyboard, click the Abort Mission button, then click the Abort button to return to the main screen. On the main screen, click the Exit Game button to return to the C:\C&C> prompt.

Buried in Time
This application is installed and run through Windows 3.x.
Installation
- Insert the Buried in Time 1 CD in the CD-ROM drive. From the Program Manager, click the word File, then click the word Run. On the Command line type:
and click the OK to start the installation.
d:\bitsetup.exe
- The Buried in Time Setup screen appears. Once you read through the information on the screen, click the Continue button. The next screen contains the drive and directory for the software installation. Click the Continue button to accept the default answers of C: drive and \BITMPC directory.
- The next screen asks "Would you like icons to be created in Program Manager to access Buried in Time?". Click the Yes button to continue. The final screen informs you the software installed successfully. Once you read the information on the screen, click the Continue button.
- The Microsoft Video for Windows Setup window appears on-screen. Once you read the information on the screen, click the Continue button. As the files copy to the hard drive, a percentage bar displays the progress in the center of the screen.
- Once the installation completes, the Setup Successful window appears. Click the Restart Now button to restart Windows and complete the installation.
To play Buried in Time
- Make sure the Buried in Time disc is in the CD-ROM drive. In the Program Manager, double click the Buried in Time group to open it. Double click the Buried in Time icon to start the application. From the Main Menu, click the New Game button to start the game.
- Once you are finished playing the game, press the ESC key on the keyboard, then click Yes when asked "Are you sure you want to quit?" From the Main Menu, click the Quit button in the lower right hand side of the screen.
