How to Install the 10th Anniversary Bundle CD

This document contains installation information for the individual CDs in the 10th Anniversary Bundle. All of these games are installed and played through MS-DOS. Make sure that you exit Windows completely before installing or playing these games. Make sure that the CD is in the CD-ROM drive before attempting to play these applications. This document assumes that the CD-ROM drive is D:.

Bioforge
Wing Commander III
Magic Carpet 2


Bioforge

  1. Insert the Bioforge disc in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt in DOS, type:

    d:

    and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt type:

    install

    and press Enter to begin the installation process.
  2. The Bioforge Installation Program screen appears. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight English in the Please Select a Language box and press Enter to continue.
  3. The next screen displays the Install Destination of C:\BIOFORGE, the Type of Installation as Medium (Recommended) and displays the hard drive space required for the game. Make sure that Install Bioforge is highlighted in the Main Installation Menu box in the center of the screen. Press Enter to continue.
  4. As the program installs to the hard drive, a percentage bar displays the progress in the center of the screen. Once the necessary files are copied to the hard drive, the Installation complete box appears on the screen. Press Enter to continue the installation.
  5. The next screen prompts you for the Sound and Music Configuration for the computer. At the top of the screen the configuration for the computer is displayed. Make sure that the Sound Card Type and Music Card Type are set at Sound Blaster. Also make sure the Sound Card Settings display PORT:0x220 IRQ:5 DMA:1. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Save Settings and Exit. Press Enter to exit to DOS and complete the installation.
  6. To play Bioforge, at the C:\> prompt in DOS, type:

    cd bioforge

    and press Enter. At the C:\BIOFORGE> prompt, type:

    bioforge

    and press Enter to begin. When finished playing the game, press the Alt and the X keys on the keyboard and the press the Y key to acknowledge that you want to exit.

Wing Commander III

  1. Insert the Wing Commander III Disc 1 CD in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt in DOS, type:

    d:

    and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt type:

    install

    and press Enter to begin the installation process.
  2. The initial screen contains information about a number of tests that are about to be run on the computer. Once you have read through the screen, press Enter to continue. The first test prompts you to hold down the Ctrl key and press the right or left arrow to make the screen darker or lighter. Once the screen is adjusted, press the Esc key to continue.
  3. The next screen informs you about possible movie playback problems. Once you read the information and make any necessary changes, press the Esc key to continue. The next screen contains information about the computer, such as CPU Speed and Movie Video Mode. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Exit this Menu, press Enter to select it and press Enter again to continue.
  4. The Main Menu window appears in the center of the next screen. At the top of the screen are the current choices for Music Card, Digital Card, Language, Save Game Path, Subtitles and Control Type. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight any of the options you wish to change and follow the onscreen instructions for making changes.
  5. Once the settings are correct, use the arrow keys to highlight Copy Files to Hard Drive and press Enter to select it. On the Copy Files to Hard Drive window, use the arrow keys to highlight Copy Object & Mission & Gameflow Files (42Mb) and press Enter to select it. As the files are copied to the hard drive, a percentage is displayed on the screen. Once the files copy to the hard drive, the Main Menu window appears.
  6. Use the arrow keys to highlight Save Settings and Exit. If the computerís memory is not configured correctly for the game to run, the installation program prompts you to make a boot diskette. Press Enter once you read the information on this screen and once again when you read the information on the next screen.
  7. Insert a blank diskette into the A: drive and press Enter when prompted to create the boot diskette. Once the diskette is formatted, press Enter for no Volume label and press the N key on the keyboard and press Enter to continue. The next screen prompts you to leave the boot diskette in the A: drive and reboot the computer to play Wing Commander III. Press Enter to return to the Main Menu.
  8. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight Save Settings and Exit. If the message about the boot diskette appears again, press the ESC key on the keyboard to exit to DOS and reboot the computer.
  9. To play the game, at the C:\> prompt in DOS, type:

    d:

    and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt, type:

    wc3

    to begin the game. When you finish playing, press the Alt key and the X key on the keyboard, then press the Y key to exit to DOS.

Magic Carpet 2

These instructions are for both installing and playing the Magic Carpet 2 CD.
  1. Insert the Magic Carpet 2 disc in the CD-ROM drive. At the C:\> prompt in DOS, type:

    d:

    and press Enter. At the D:\> prompt type:

    netherw

    and press Enter to begin the installation process.
  2. As the necessary files for the game are copied to the hard drive, percentages are displayed on the lower left side of the screen. The first screen is for language configuration. Click on the upper button to Exit Language Configuration Screen. The game will then begin.
  3. To exit the game, press the ESC key on the keyboard, then click the mouse on the check mark on the left hand side of the Exit game menu.
