How to Install the Flight Pack CD Discs
These programs have been verified by Gateway 2000 to work with Windows 95. If you have any further questions or problems please contact the software vendor.
This document contains installation instructions for all the Flight Pack CD Discs. In order to install these games you must have a boot disk with a specific memory configuration. If you do not have this diskette the information on creating all the boot diskettes necessary for any of the Flight Pack games is available document 1941. This procedure assumes you have the boot diskette available, that your CD-ROM drive is D:, and that you do not have a Sanyo 3 Disk Changer.
Armada
Installation Instructions
- Make sure the Armada CD is in the CD-ROM drive, label side up. In Windows 95 under the Start menu click Run, then type:
and press Enter to begin installing the game.
d:\install
- The Wing Commander Armada CD Installation screen appears with the Main Menu at the bottom. Use the arrow keys to highlight "Select music card" and press Enter. On the available music card screen, use the arrow keys to select "Sound Blaster" and press Enter.
- Once you return to the Main Menu, use the arrow keys to highlight "Select speech card" and press Enter. From the list of available speech cards, use the arrow keys to select "Sound Blaster" and press Enter. On the available ports screen use the arrow keys to select 220 and press Enter. From the list of available IRQs, use the arrow keys to highlight 5 and press Enter.
- You are again at the Main Menu screen. Use the arrow keys to highlight "Install with these options" and press Enter. Once the software has finished installing to the hard drive, you are asked if you have a Thrustmaster joystick. Use the arrow keys to highlight NO and press Enter. The final screen tells you that the installation is complete. Press Enter to exit the installation software.
To play Armada
- To enter the game, in Windows 95, double click on My Computer, next double click on c:, then double click on the Armadacd folder, finally double click on the Armadacd icon.
- Calibrate your joystick as instructed on the screen. Follow the operating instructions on screen and in the manual included with the disc.

Aces Over Europe
Installation Procedure
- Place the Aces Over Europe CD, label side up, in your CD-ROM drive. In Windows 95 under the Start menu click Run, then type:
and press Enter to begin the game installation.
d:\aoe\install
- The first screen contains information about the installation procedure. Once you have read this information, press Enter to continue. The next screen will highlight the C: drive as the destination drive for the software. Press Enter to accept this default.
- When the Installation Choices screen appears, use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight what is says beside Music. Scroll through the list until you find Sound Blaster/AdLib compatible. Once this is highlighted, press Enter. On the next screen, again make sure that Sound Blaster/AdLib compatible is highlighted and press Enter. The following screen asks you to Accept these choices and begin installation. The next screen contains README information about the software installation. Once you have read this screen, press Enter to continue.
- You are prompted on the next screen for an installation option. Press the F key on the keyboard for a full installation. The software begins copying over to your hard drive. When complete, a screen appears with registration and other information on it. Once you have read through it, press Enter to continue.
- The final screen informs you that you are exiting the installation program. Press Enter to confirm this answer. This will bring you back to Windows 95.
Starting Aces Over Europe
- To enter the game, in Windows 95, double click on My Computer, next double click on c:, then double click on the Dynamix folder, next double click on the Aoe folder, finally double click on the Aoecd icon. Once you enter the game, follow the on-screen instructions and the manual that came with the game.

Privateer
To play Privateer
Installation Procedure
- 1. Place the Privateer CD label side up in the CD-ROM drive. In Windows 95 under the Start menu click Run, then type:
and press Enter to begin the game installation.
d:\private
- The Privateer CD Installation screen appears with the Main Menu displayed at the bottom. Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to highlight "Select music card" and press Enter. Use the arrow keys to highlight Sound Blaster from the list of available music cards and press Enter to select it. Use the arrow keys to select 5 from the list of available IRQs and press Enter to select it.
- Once you return to the Main Menu, use the arrow keys to highlight "Select speech card" and press Enter. From the list of available digital-fx cards, use the arrow keys to highlight "Sound Blaster" and press Enter to select it. Use the arrow keys to highlight 220 from the list of available ports and press Enter. From the list of available IRQs, use the arrow keys to highlight 5 and press Enter to select it.
- Once you return to the Main Menu, use the arrow keys to highlight "Install with these options" and press Enter. When the software has finished copying to the hard drive, a screen appears telling you the installation is complete. Press Enter to exit the installation program.
- To enter the game, in Windows 95, double click on My Computer, next double click on c:, then double click on the Privater folder, finally double click on the Priv icon.
- Calibrate your joystick as instructed. Follow the operating instructions on screen and in the manual included with the disc.

Comanche
Installation Instructions
- 1. Place the CD label side up in the CD-ROM drive. In Windows 95 under the Start menu click Run, then type:
and press Enter to begin installing the game.
d:\install
- The Comanche CD-ROM Setup Program appears on your screen. Make sure the C: drive is highlighted for the destination drive for the software and press Enter to continue installing the game.
- After a few moments, the installation screen displays the message "Type: C to play Comanche" and you will be back in Windows 95. Under the Start menu click Run, then type:
and press Enter to configure your sound card to work properly with the game.
c:\comanche\soundset
- The Comanche Sound Setup Program appears on your screen. Make sure SoundBlaster Compatible is highlighted and press Enter to configure the sound card.
- The Select Sound Card Port Number screen appearss. Make sure the default of 220 is selected and press Enter. On the Select Sound Card IRQ Number screen, make sure the second default (IRQ 5) is highlighted and press Enter to continue. The Select Sound Card DMA Channel screen appears next. Make sure the default (DMA 1) is highlighted and press Enter to select it. The final screen titled Select Music Device appears. Highlight Sound Blaster Compatible and press Enter. You are again at the C:\COMANCHE> prompt.
To play Comanche:
- To enter the game, in Windows 95, double click on My Computer, next double click on c:, then double click on the Comanche folder, finally double click on the C icon. Once you enter the game, follow the on-screen instructions and the manual that came with the game.

WarPlanes
Installation Procedure:
- Place the CD label side up in your CD-ROM drive. In Windows 95 under the Start menu click Run, then type:
and press Enter to begin the installation.
d:\install
- A WarPlanes Install screen appears on the screen. Make sure "Copy Quick Time files on hard disk" and "Install application on hard disk" are selected in the window and click on OK to continue.
- As the installation begins, a window appears that informs you the directory for WarPlanes does not exist on the hard drive. Click on the OK button for the directory to be created.
- When the files have finished copying onto the hard drive, a window appears telling you that the installation is complete. Click on OK and you return to Windows 95.
To play WarPlanes
- From the Start button, click on Programs, next click on the WarPlanes group. Finally click on the WarPlanes icon to initialize the game.
- Click on the options you want. Follow the operating instructions on screen and in the manual included with the disc.

TFX (Tactical Fighter Experiment)
Installation Instructions
- 1. Place the CD label side up in the CD-ROM drive. In Windows 95 under the Start Menu click Run, then type:
and press Enter to install the game.
d:\install
- The Tactical Fighter Experiment screen appears. The screen asks you to Select Target Drive. The C: drive appears highlighted as the default destination. Press Enter to accept this answer. The next screen contains information about the installation program. Once you have read through this information, press Enter to continue.
- A screen appears as the software in examining your system. Click on the Continue button. The TFX configuration screen appears. If you are using a joystick, click on Config Joystick and follow the instructions on screen. Click on the Save button when you finish selecting your joystick.
- A screen appears informing you about the software installation procedure. Press Enter when you are finished reading through this. The Inferno Special Preview screen appears. Once you have read the information, press Enter to continue. The final screen contains information on how to Enter the game and reconfigure the game, if need be. Press Enter when you are finished reading this screen. This brings you back to Windows 95.
To Play TFX
- To enter the game, in Windows 95, double click on My Computer, next double click on c:, then double click on the Tfx folder, finally double click on the Tfx icon. Once you enter the game, follow the on-screen instructions and the manual that came with the game.

Strike Commander
Installation Procedure
- Place the Strike Commander CD, label side up, in the CD-ROM drive. In Windows 95 under the Start button click Run, then type:
and press Enter to begin the installation.
d:\strike
- The Strike Commander Installation screen appears. Once you read the information on the screen, press Enter to continue. On the next screen, make sure "Install Strike Commander" is highlighted and press Enter. The next window asks you "Are you satisfied with the current configuration?" Use the arrow keys on the keyboard to select NO and press Enter.
- You are asked to select the installation drive. Type:
and press Enter. Press Enter again to confirm that you are satisfied with the destination directory. The next window asks you to define your sound card. Use the arrow keys to select "any Sound Blaster" and press Enter.
c
- The next few screens prompt you for the sound card settings. On the first screen, make sure 220H is highlighted and press Enter. On the next screen, be sure 5 is highlighted and press Enter. The following screen asks if you have a local bus video card. Use the arrow keys to select YES and press Enter.
- You are asked if you are satisfied with the current configuration. Use the arrow keys to select YES and press Enter. The following screen asks if you want the executable files copied onto your hard drive. Use the arrow keys to highlight YES and press Enter to continue. The next screen asks you about copying the software files over to the hard drive. Use the arrow keys to highlight YES and press Enter to continue.
- Once the software has finished copying to the hard drive, a README file is displayed on the screen. After you have read the information, press ESC to exit the installation and press ESC again to confirm that you want to exit.
To play Strike Commander
- To enter the game, in Windows 95, double click on My Computer, next double click on c:, then double click on the Sc folder, finally double click on the Sccd icon. Once you enter the game, follow the on-screen instructions and the manual that came with the game.
