FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
North Sioux City, S.D.--July 15, 1997 - Gateway 2000, Inc. (NYSE: GTW), Gateway 2000, Inc. (NYSE: GTW), a leading direct marketer of personal computers, today announced the EV900 monitor with an 18 inch viewable area. The EV900, currently available on the G6-266XL, offers users a heightened level of performance and larger screen size without the bulky, space-consuming dimensions. The monitor saves desk space since the dimensions of its display are similar to those of typical 17 inch monitors. The EV900’s small footprint makes the transition from a 17 inch monitor to the EV900 easy. New Gateway 2000 EV900 Monitor Brings Big Value While Saving Desk Space
EV900 offers large performance with a small footprint
"This monitor is the answer for users who need larger viewable areas but can not afford to sacrifice desk space," said Bart Brown, Vice President of Marketing, Americas. "With the new EV900 monitor, customers are looking at a 28% increase in viewable area over a typical 17 inch monitor. The continuing advancement of hardware technology and robust software applications has driven the need for affordable, high quality displays. While the demand for larger and better displays continues to grow, customers may be dealing with increasingly limited workspace. The small footprint of the EV900 makes it a perfect solution for those customers that previously did not have room on their desks for a large display."
The new EV900 19 inch monitor features a Hitachi high contrast CRT with anti-glare, anti-reflection, and anti-static coating. The screen is 18 viewable inches and has .26 screen pitch for a crisp, clear picture. The monitor’s dimensions with the base are 18.1 inches x 17.8 inches x 18.3 inches (W x H x D).
Another advantage of this product is that it supports up to 85KHz horizontal frequency. Previously, only higher priced monitors offered this level of support. The cost effective display can support resolutions of 1024x768 at 85Hz, 1280x1024 at 85Hz and 1600x1200 at 65Hz. These qualities are ideal for customers using graphics intensive applications and who need the greater refresh rates for optimum performance.
The EV900 is immediately available with Gateway’s G6-266XL and is expected to be made available with additional G-Series configurations later this year. For more information on the EV900, please call 1-800-846-2000 or visit http://www.gw2k.com/product/specs/2717.htm.
