Gateway 2000 is the leading direct marketer of personal computers in the United States. The Company develops, markets, manufactures and supports a broad line of desktop and portable PCs used by businesses, individuals, families, government agencies and educational institutions.

Gateway 2000 thrives in the fast-paced environment of the PC industry, one of the most competitive businesses in history. The rural Midwest-based Company, founded in 1985, grew from obscurity to become a global Fortune 500 company and an industry leader in just under 10 years. Annual sales in 1985 were $100,000 with two employees. In 1995, Gateway 2000 recorded net sales of nearly $3.7 billion with more than 8,800 employees worldwide. This is the second year in a row that the Company has grown by approximately $1 billion in annual revenues. In 1995, Gateway shipped 1,338,000 PCs to customers throughout the world.

Gateway 2000ís headquarters in North Sioux City, South Dakota, is also home to its U.S. manufacturing operations and the majority of its U.S. sales and support staff. Additional U.S. sales and customer support facilities are located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Kansas City, Missouri. In September, the Company announced construction of a second U.S. manufacturing operation in Hampton, Virginia, which is expected to begin operations in August 1996. European operations are based in Dublin, Ireland. Active European markets now include the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands. Along the Pacific Rim, the Company has sales and support operations in Japan and Australia, and a manufacturing facility in Malaysia.
