Gateway 2000 Announces Management Changes

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., February 5, 1997 - Gateway 2000 (NYSE: GTW), a leading global marketer of PCs, today announced the appointment of John d’Auguste as vice president of general sales, Americas Group. d’Auguste, 46, who has been vice president of operations in Gateway’s Americas Group for four years, will now be responsible for general sales and add-ons. He succeeds Michael J. Shrader, who has left Gateway 2000 to pursue other opportunities.

Succeeding d’Auguste as Vice President of Operations, Americas Group, is Bernard F. Ebert, who joined Gateway 2000 last year as vice president of global planning, procurement and quality. Ebert, 49, will head up Gateway’s manufacturing operations in North Sioux City, SD, Sioux Falls, SD and Hampton, VA.

"As our business continues to grow, it is essential we identify experienced industry leaders to direct these segments of our operations," said Bob Spears, senior vice president of the Americas Group. "John and Bern have the background to lead these efforts."

Prior to joining Gateway, d’Auguste was vice president at General Railway Signal Corporation. The Long Island, NY native received his BS degree in systems engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and his MS degree in engineering management from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Ebert has more than 20 years experience serving in numerous management and executive capacities at Texas Instruments Incorporated. Ebert received both his BS degree in business administration and MBA from Louisiana State University.
